Slingshot Block Printed T-Shirt by Charly Fasano

Hand-printed Slingshot t-shirt by artist Charly Fasano. This block printed t-shirt is inspired by an Alabama man named Sim Lovejoy. He was a legendary crack-shot with a flip, better known to most as a slingshot. He passed on his passion for slingshots by making over 10,000 “flips” for whoever asked for one in-person or by mail without ever expecting anything in return.

Block printing or relief printing is a process by which the artist carves an image into a hard surface like wood or linoleum with a sharp carving tool, essentially creating a very large stamp. Ink is applied with a roller or brayer and the stamp is applied to the shirt with an enormous amount of pressure. A t-shirt is born.

Every block printed image on these t-shirts are unique in that the hand application of the printing or stamping process is a one of a kind occurrence. Each print will appear just a bit different than the next. That is what makes hand-printed apparel created in small batches such unique items.
